- 5 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> March 27, 2000 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS- <br /> Sign Request from Boys & Girls Club: <br /> Ken Bates was present to request the Board approve the placement of <br /> a sign on Frank Hicks Drive to depict the site location of the Boys& Girls <br /> Club of Cape Cod. Chief Przybylek was in attendance and voiced his <br /> support for the proposed sign location. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Leveille to approve the sign permit <br /> application of the Boys & Girls Club of Cape Cod as presented. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Taylor. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> Request to.Serve as Host to Community Traffic Safety Program: <br /> The Board was requested to consider serving as a host site to the <br /> Governor's Highway Safety Bureau's regional community traffic <br /> Safety program entitled Cape and Islands Safe Communities. <br /> The mission of the regional Safe Communities Program is to reduce <br /> motor vehicle crashes and the injuries and fatalities resulting through <br /> the administration of community based traffic safety efforts. <br /> It would be necessary for the Town to maintain a revolving account <br /> to allow the project's director to receive and disburse funds related to <br /> highway safety projects in Barnstable County. Work space for an office <br /> is also proposed for administrative purposes. Discussion followed. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Blythe to deny the request to serve as <br /> host to the Community Traffic Safety Program. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Leveille. <br /> VOTE: 4-1. Motion carries. <br /> Selectman Cahalane in opposition. <br />
