ti
Finance Committee Minutes
February 27, 1991
Page 2.
Selectman Carter stated that department heads should be heard only once,
so they do not have to appear before both boards. Chairman Vaccaro informed
the Selectmen that they were welcome to attend the meetings with the
department heads and a schedule will be available stating what departments
will be at secheduled Finance Committee meetings. He stressed that in view
of the deadline it was important for the Finance Committee to proceed with
the budget reviews. Selectman Gottlieb felt there was room for discussion
about the cuts that had been recommended and priorities. His concern was
will the recommended funding let departments operate as they should and
allow them to be worthwhile. Gottlieb's particular concerns were the
Harbormaster, Shellfish, Conservation, Assessors, and Treaurer's budgets.
He stated that there may be a need for additional funding or recasting of
departments. Chairman Vaccaro stressed that these recommendations are
prelimary and that they can be changed.
Jim noted that the Finance Committee has set aside $87,000 for articles,
excluding Cape Tech, COLAs and Veterans Services. Carter stated that the
Selectmen will review the articles and get back to the Finance Committee
with their recommendations.
The meeting adjourned at 8 p.m..
Board Secretary
