April 29, 1991 <br /> Page 3. <br /> The total cost of the items in the prelimary consideration list was $139,110. <br /> Members reviewed the list and the agreement was to eliminate the lifeguards, <br /> Human Service Articles and the Assistant Building Inspector from the list of <br /> considerations. . The CLAMS program was removed from the list but members <br /> wanted to address the $5,000 cut that was made to 'their salary/wage account. <br /> The total of items on this list for consideration was $55,455. <br /> Council on Aging - Vern motioned that the Director of the Council on <br /> Aging position be increased to 30 hours per week (an increase of 10 <br /> hours) resulting in a cost of $8,000. Deirdre seconded the motion. <br /> The vote was unanimous. <br /> Planning Department - Tony Gallo motioned that the secretary position <br /> in the Planning Department be increased to a 32 hour-a-week position <br /> resulting in a $7,800 increase in this budget. The motion was <br /> seconded by Deirdre and there was a unanimous vote. <br /> Waterways Assistants - Carl motioned for an additional $3,500 for <br /> waterways assistants and Deirdre seconded the motion. There was <br /> unanimous agreement. <br /> Accountant '- Deidre motioned that the clerk position. in the Accountant's <br /> office be increase from 20 hours to 24 hours with a resulting cost of. <br /> $1725. Vern seconded the motion and there was a unanimous vote of agreement. <br /> Shellfish - $3,100 would add 6 weeks to the Shellfish Warden position. <br /> Deirdre motioned for approval and Vern seconded. There was unanimous <br /> approval. <br /> Harbormaster - $2,100 will add 6 weeks fulltime to this position and Carl <br /> motioned for approval. Deirdre seconded. All members agreed. <br /> Library - Deirdre motioned that $5,000 be restored to the salary/wage <br /> account and Vern seconded. There was unanimous agreement. <br /> Conservation - Deirdre motioned that $5,700 be restored to this budget <br /> to bring the agent up to 40 hours and the secretary to 35 hours. John <br /> seconded. the motion. This motion failed 5 to 2. The two votes in <br /> favor were cast by Deirdre and John. <br /> Deirdre motioned that $2,700 be restored to the Conservation budget to <br /> be spent as they wish. Vern seconded the motion to restore $2,700. <br /> This motion carried 4 to 3. The four votes in favor were cast by <br /> Deirdre, John, Carole and Jim. <br /> Animal Control - Carl motioned that $5,548 be restored to this budget <br /> to make the position fulltime. Deirdre seconded the motion. This motion <br /> failed with only one vote in favor cast by Deirdre. <br /> Jim expressed his belief that it would be unfair to restore the full amount <br /> of the previously recommended cut because none of the other departments were <br /> being fully restored. <br /> John made a substitute motion for $2,600 and this was seconded by Tony. <br /> There was a unanimous vote. This would restore the position to 5 days <br /> at six-hours-per-day. <br />
