April 29, 1991 Page 3. The total cost of the items in the prelimary consideration list was $139,110. Members reviewed the list and the agreement was to eliminate the lifeguards, Human Service Articles and the Assistant Building Inspector from the list of considerations. . The CLAMS program was removed from the list but members wanted to address the $5,000 cut that was made to 'their salary/wage account. The total of items on this list for consideration was $55,455. Council on Aging - Vern motioned that the Director of the Council on Aging position be increased to 30 hours per week (an increase of 10 hours) resulting in a cost of $8,000. Deirdre seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous. Planning Department - Tony Gallo motioned that the secretary position in the Planning Department be increased to a 32 hour-a-week position resulting in a $7,800 increase in this budget. The motion was seconded by Deirdre and there was a unanimous vote. Waterways Assistants - Carl motioned for an additional $3,500 for waterways assistants and Deirdre seconded the motion. There was unanimous agreement. Accountant '- Deidre motioned that the clerk position. in the Accountant's office be increase from 20 hours to 24 hours with a resulting cost of. $1725. Vern seconded the motion and there was a unanimous vote of agreement. Shellfish - $3,100 would add 6 weeks to the Shellfish Warden position. Deirdre motioned for approval and Vern seconded. There was unanimous approval. Harbormaster - $2,100 will add 6 weeks fulltime to this position and Carl motioned for approval. Deirdre seconded. All members agreed. Library - Deirdre motioned that $5,000 be restored to the salary/wage account and Vern seconded. There was unanimous agreement. Conservation - Deirdre motioned that $5,700 be restored to this budget to bring the agent up to 40 hours and the secretary to 35 hours. John seconded. the motion. This motion failed 5 to 2. The two votes in favor were cast by Deirdre and John. Deirdre motioned that $2,700 be restored to the Conservation budget to be spent as they wish. Vern seconded the motion to restore $2,700. This motion carried 4 to 3. The four votes in favor were cast by Deirdre, John, Carole and Jim. Animal Control - Carl motioned that $5,548 be restored to this budget to make the position fulltime. Deirdre seconded the motion. This motion failed with only one vote in favor cast by Deirdre. Jim expressed his belief that it would be unfair to restore the full amount of the previously recommended cut because none of the other departments were being fully restored. John made a substitute motion for $2,600 and this was seconded by Tony. There was a unanimous vote. This would restore the position to 5 days at six-hours-per-day.
