MA 02649 <br /> FINANCE COMMITTEE MINUTES <br /> Town Hall <br /> May 20, 1991 <br /> .Present: Tom Bodwell, Tony Gallo, Deirdre Greelish, Albert <br /> Polsi, Denise Sullivan and Jim Vaccaro <br /> The Finance Committee meeting commenced at 7 p.m. The <br /> Chairman welcomed the new members , Tom, Al and Denise to the <br /> Committee. The Chairman noted that new handbooks would be <br /> available in August and that an orientation meeting would be <br /> scheduled in July for new members . <br /> The Chairman noted that the first order of business was <br /> the reorganization of the Committee. Tony motioned that Jim <br /> remain as the Chairman of the Committee and this motion was <br /> seconded by Al. All members agreed with the motion. Al <br /> nominated Deirdre to be the Vice Chairman and Tony seconded <br /> the motion. This motion failed with only two votes in favor <br /> by Al and Deirdre. Denise motioned that Tony be the Vice <br /> Chairman and Tom seconded the motion. The motion to have <br /> Tony ..as Vice Chairman carried with four votes in favor cast <br /> by Denise, Tony, Tom, and Jim. Deirdre nominated Denise to <br /> be the Clerk and Al seconded the motion. The motion to have <br /> Denise as Clerk of the Finance Committee passed unanimously. <br /> The Finance Committee reviewed their correspondence . A <br /> memorandum had been received from Kevin Harrington regarding <br /> Article 15 of the Annual Town Meeting. This Article upgraded <br /> the position of the Assistant Assessor from Grade 8 to Grade <br /> 11 . Kevin cited the PAP and the employee handbook which <br /> state that if an employee receives a promotion to a higher <br /> rated job, the employee shall enter at the minimum of that <br /> job rate range or at the step rate nest above his/her own <br /> rate whichever is higher. This would mean that the Assistant <br /> Assessor would be a Grade 11 Step 1 with a salary of $25 , 710 . <br /> The Finance Committee had received a letter from Jon Jay <br /> Associates , the management consultants the Treasurer uses , <br /> regarding unemploymnet and how the benefit structure has <br /> changed. The weekly benefit rate has increased about 4% <br /> and 5 weeks has been .added to the eligibility. <br />
