Members voted unanimously to
accept the minutes as printed.
Deidre Greelish passed out the estimate given by the two
professionals, which she had spoken about previously, regarding
their proposed figures for a 15 room addition. Her feeling was
that the difference to the tax payer was so slight that she felt
the Finance Committeee air on the side of trusting the estimates
given by the School Building Needs Committee and Carlson
Engineering. Present at the meeting for the School Buildings Need
Committee were Peter Dinizio, Alec Watt, and Carl
McDonald. Ms. Greelish mentioned that should the job be completed
_ using 1.6 million, we should be in a position to trust the
selectmen and Needs Committee Members to use some restraint. John
Ferriday mentioned also that we really do not have anything to do
with that and we do need to trust the people who are actually
involved to do the right thing. Finance Committee Members then
went on to discuss some specific items with Mr. Dinizio, Mr. Watt
and Mr. McDonald.
Mr. Goggin questioned the number of rooms they used for their
calculations. Mr. Dinizio explained that their calculations were
based on a total of 60 rooms for both schools, 30 rooms in each.
Mr. Dinizio also stated that at the Special Town Meeting on Monday,
Dr. DeMoura would speak for the first half of the presentation and
then the committee will address what their solution is as a
committee. Mr. Dinizio also indicated that the committee is
pursuing State Aid. He stated that they can't tell taxpayers that
they will receive reimbursement, but that they are trying their
best. There- was a question asked about the figures the committee
had come up with. Mr. Dinizio stated that Carlson Engineering put
in all current wage rates and requirements into their computer and
it came up with specific numbers. He also mentioned that his
committee voted to stand by these numbers. He stated that he
trusted Carlson's estimates.
Mr. Gallo indicated that he would like the Finance Committee
tonight to vote one way or the other for the 15 room addition.
