2
Board of Selectmen
Minutes
May 15, 2000
APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS:
Public Comment:
Shellback Way resident, Sally Bold related concern with respect to
increased traffic as it relates to the new development proposal of the
Pizzeria Uno and South Cape Outlet Center/Talanian project.
Signalization and a second egress for emergency access was deemed
appropriate in the above subject area of discussion.
Fred D'Amico, a resident of Shellback Way expressed appreciation to
the Selectmen for attending the recent hearing of the Cape Cod
Commission relative to this matter.
It was noted that the Cape Cod Commission supports signalization in
the area of Shellback Way contingent upon the commercial entrance
to Deer Crossing becoming a might in, right out way, and that a connector
road through the Industrial Park be established. Through mitigation, the
Talanian project proposal is expected to assume all costs associated to
signalization.
Regardless of the connector road and the decision of Deer Crossing, the
Board agreed to endorse the concept of signalization in the area of
discussion, and that a second egress be considered in the area of safety.
Motion made by Selectman Green to authorize the Chairman of the
Board of Selectmen to submit a letter to the Planning Board
requesting they look carefully at the traffic situation in the area of
Shellback Way and the necessity for signalization, and that a second
egress from Deer Crossing for emergency access be strongly
considered.
Motion seconded by Selectman Cahalane.
VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0.
Marjorie Katsoulis, a resident of Shellback Way indicated that she has
requested the Police Department review the number of traffic accidents in
this area during the past two years. It may add an additional perspective
when viewing the possibility of another 700 cars with the new
developmental proposal suggested Ms. Katsoulis.
