5 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> May 15, 2000 <br /> OLD BUSINESS: <br /> Heritage Park Playground Expansion: <br /> In memorial to Edward C. "Tiger"Long, the Board reviewed the donation <br /> proposal of the Long family to expand the playground at Heritage Park. <br /> Selectman Taylor, Gus Frederick, the Leisure Services Director and <br /> Gregory Taylor recommended approval. <br /> It was noted that the Department of Public Works would assist with the <br /> ground preparation process. The project is expected to commence on June <br /> 24, 2000. The completion date is July 1, 2000. All funds are to be <br /> donated by the Long family. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Taylor to accept the generosity of the <br /> Long family, and approve the site location at Heritage Park for the <br /> new playground as a memorial to Edward C. "Tiger" bong. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Marsters. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Mr. Whritenour was direct to remit a letter of appreciation to the Long <br /> family for their generosity on behalf of the Board of Selectmen. The <br /> Board also agreed to participate in a ceremony on opening day. <br /> COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE: <br /> Correspondence from Fire Chief George Baker: <br /> Chief Baker remitted communication to the Selectmen in a memorandum <br /> dated May 15, 2000 in appreciation for the assistance given to the <br /> Mashpee Fire &Rescue Department in preparing for, and assisting at the <br /> live fire training exercise this past weekend. <br /> Mr. Whritenour was directed to draft letters of appreciation to those <br /> individuals who assisted in the day of training. Joyce Mason, Assistant <br /> Town Administrator and Greg Taylor, Director of Public Works were <br /> noted to be invaluable in the preparation process. <br />
