I
Board of Selectmen
Minutes
August 22, 2000
Town Meeting Warrant Review:
The articles were reviewed in former numerical order:
Article#28: Amend Zoning Bylaw—Front Setback
The article would eliminate the"loophole"by replacing the
term "front yard"with the term "front setback".
Article#29: Amend Zoning Bylaws—Congregate Care or Assisted
Living Facilities
To allow age-restricted congregate care or assisted living
residential facilities in any residential or commercial
zoning district by special permit from the Planning Board.
Mashpee resident and Planning Board member, Jim Dorgan
voiced concern to the article as presented. He stated that
residential homes would decrease in value and traffic and
noise are likely to infringe on the residential character of
the homeowner making it a less desirable location.
It was noted that there is a 50' buffer on all sides and
defines specific parking requirements, and minimum
natural buffer areas. It was noted that the districts could be
amended on the floor of Town Meeting.
Article#30: Amend Zoning Bylaw—Lots Located in Multiple Zoning
Districts
The article attempts to provide a clear explanation of what
zoning will apply to each portion of a lot in multiple
districts.
Article#31: Amend Zoning Bylaw—Table of Use Regulations
The article was amended to read" Sand or Gravel Pit,
where sand or gravel are mined or excavated specifically
for sale or off site use and no in conjunction with permitted
construction on the site.
