MASHPEE FINANCE COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
MARCH 11, 1993
MEETING COMMENCED AT 7:00 PM
Members Present: Deirdre Greelish, Chairperson; Dan Goggin, Vice
Chairperson; Ed Baker; Denise Sullivan and Roger Dunivan. Tony
Gallo and John Ferriday were unable to attend.
The taping of this meeting was for the transcription of the minutes
only. The tapes will be reused.
MINUTES
It is noted for the record that there were two changes in the
minutes of March 9, 1993 . The first change was on page 2 . The
last sentence of the first paragraph under the School Budget should
have read focus on the educational value. On page 3 , the first
paragraph under the Police Budget should have read in the Animal
Control budget on line five. Ed Baker MOTIONED to accept the
Minutes of March 9, 1993 as amended. Roger Dunivan seconded the
motion and members voted in acceptance of the Minutes 5-0.
Members then discussed the memos which Deirdre Greelish drafted to
the Executive Secretary and the Board of Selectmen for tonight's
meeting. The memos were in regard to the Falmouth Tuition excess;
the Finance Committee's interest in bidding medical insurance and
also bidding town insurance, employee deferred compensation plan
and employee retirement plan; ambulance receipts; and a change in
debt inside proposition 2 1/2 in regard to the Wastewater
Engineering at the landfill in Mashpee. Members agreed that the
memos should be sent. The memos were signed and delivered to the
Board of Selectmen and Robert Whritenhour, who were meeting in the
next room.
Roger Dunivan commented that the committee never receives any
information back from the Board of Selectmen or from the Executive
Secretary regarding the memos which the committee sends. He stated
that Ms. Greelish puts a lot of her own time into their
preparation. He suggested that there should be a postscript at the
bottom of important memos requesting acknowledgement and a written
response, even if the response is lotted down on the memo and
returned. Some memos are {for information only} and would not
require a written response.
Ms. Greelish supplied members with an updated printout of the
budget_ worksheet, revenue statement and Mashpee debt schedule 1993--
2003, which she updates each meeting as changes occur or budgets
are completed.
Ed Baker mentioned that he received a telephone call from Elizabeth
Jones requesting that she be present when the committee discussed
the Council on Aging.
i
