Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes—Verbatim <br /> October 10, 2000 <br /> Motion made by Selectman Cahalane to initiate the BIA open <br /> forum with Jan Strickland of the Affirmative Action <br /> Committee authorizing Selectman Marsters, liaison to assist in <br /> the process on behalf of the Selectmen as soon as possible. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Taylor. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Selectman Leveille: Okay, the last thing was, we had discussion about a lobbyist and <br /> utilization of legal resources. At some point,this has to be <br /> discussed....Washington... <br /> Selectman Cahalane: I'll make a motion that we research difference law firms along <br /> with Hale and Dorr. Let's do everything as quickly as possible. <br /> Selectman Marsters: Could we authorize Dave to make a phone call, I think the right <br /> people should go...Can we make a phone call and find out?... <br /> Selectman Cahalane: I agree with you.—Let's take a stab at it. <br /> Selectman Leveille: Is that a motion? <br /> Selectman Marsters: Yes, it is not a very pretty one, but I guess it was. <br /> George Benway: Would you re-state the motion? I know what I did. <br /> I make a motion for David to make a phone call to Perkins and <br /> Cole to investigate,the expense to pay for a lobbyist.. <br /> Selectman Cahalan: Not a lobbyist. <br /> Selectman Marsters: No, I'm sorry, for representation on these two Bills. <br /> George Benway: Point of Order. What do you answer when they say to you, what <br /> are you doing with Hale and Dorr? They know Hale and Dorr is <br /> involved. Are they still counsel? Are they still counsel, special <br /> town counsel or are you...they can't be in limbo. <br /> Selectman Cahalane: Perkins and Cole are on top of this Bill.
