2 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> October 16, 2000 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Barnstable County Commissioners: (continued) <br /> Ms. LeClair discussed the change proposals relative to the Barnstable <br /> County Charter and urged the Selectmen to support ballot question 49 to <br /> become a regional form of government. <br /> COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE: <br /> Announcements: <br /> Cape Cod Commission Hearing <br /> Monday, October 23, 2000—Talanian Project <br /> 7:00 p.m. @ Mashpee Senior Center <br /> The new Mashpee Health Center held an open house on Saturday. The <br /> health center, the first of three planned for the Upper Cape will increase <br /> the availability of primary and specialized health care to the public. The <br /> facility currently houses two private medical practices, a laboratory, a x- <br /> ray lab, and Cape Cod Healthcare offices. Additional services are being <br /> considered. <br /> Ancestral Ceremony Proposal: <br /> Correspondence was received from Michelle Fernandes, Director of the <br /> Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal Health Program dated October 12, 2000 <br /> requesting the Board approve of an Ancestral Ceremony at Ashers Path <br /> near the Town landfill extension on Saturday, October 21, 2000. A small <br /> area of brush is anticipated to be cleared for the ceremony. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Marsters to place the above topic on the <br /> Selectmen's agenda. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Taylor. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Marsters to approve of the Ancestral <br /> Ceremony request as presented pending clarification of the area to be <br /> cleared for the ceremony. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Taylor. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br />
