3 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> October 16, 2000 <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> Acceptance of Resignation—Building Inspector: <br /> Correspondence was received from William Hauck, Inspector of Buildings <br /> dated September 22, 2000 requesting the Selectmen approve his <br /> resignation effective Friday, January 5, 2001. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Taylor to accept the resignation of <br /> William Hauck as Building Inspector in appreciation for his dedicated <br /> service effective Friday,January 5, 2001. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Green. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br /> The position will be posted in-house tomorrow. <br /> Recess: 6:50 p.m. Meeting Resumed: 7:00 p.m. <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Public Hearing—Taxi Fares: <br /> Selectman Cahalane opened the Public Hearing on the current taxi fare <br /> rates in the Town of Mashpee. The purpose of the hearing will be to <br /> review taxi fares in Mashpee and surrounding towns and to assess if any <br /> rate changes are necessary. <br /> Joyce Mason, Assistant Town Administrator read aloud the Public <br /> Hearing notice as published. Sergeant Gerald Umina, Taxi Examiner was <br /> present to discuss and review the taxi fare charges in Mashpee. <br /> Sergeant Umina recommended the Selectman allow taxis to charge $2.00 <br /> for the first 2/5 of a mile, and 50 cents for each additional 115 of a mile <br /> thereafter. The increase as proposed is 20 cents on the first 2/5 of a mile <br /> and a 10-cent change on each additional 115 of a mile thereafter. Senior <br /> citizens would be allowed a 25% discount. Sergeant Umina proposed that <br /> the changes take effect on January 1, 2001. <br />
