r MASHPEE FINANCE COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES AUGUST 17, 1993 MEETING COMMENCED AT 7:OOPM Members Present: Dan Goggin, Chairman; Deirdre Greelish; Tony Gallo; and Roger Dunivan. John Ferriday and Denise Sullivan were unable to attend. Please note that the taping of this meeting was for the transcription of the minutes only. The tapes will be reused once the minutes are approved. There were two candidates available to speak to the Committee regarding their requests to be appointed to the Finance Committee. The two candidates were Schuyler D. Wires and Marcia R. King. Each had previously given a resume for the committee to review and tonight each candidate told the committee a little bit about themselves. There is a third candidate that the committee wishes to hear from. The committee is going to try to schedule him to meet prior to the Board of Selectmen's meeting on Monday, August 231 1993 . The committee then felt they would be able to give their recommendation to the Board of Selectmen at their meeting. MINUTES Deirdre Greelish MOTIONED to accept the Minutes of July 27, 1993 as written. Roger Dunivan seconded the Motion and members approved the Minutes by a vote of 4-0. Mr. Goggin gave the committee a copy of Mashpee's FY93 and FY94 Cherry Sheet Aid Analysis. He noted to the committee that the total estimated receipts for FY93 was $1,540,612 and for FY94 is $1,643 ,519, a difference of $102,907. Al Polsi, Taxpayers Association, was present at the meeting to discuss the Association's request to have a pre-town open forum prior to the October town meeting. The Association is requesting this in order that the residents of this town better understand the warrant articles and therefore be able to make an informed decision. The members of the Finance Committee decided that Thursday, September 23 , 1993 would be a good night for this. Mr. Goggin asked how long the open forum should be? Mr. Polsi answered that at this open forum the money articles would be discussed, but that the association is hoping that every town meeting will hold an open forum prior. Ms. Greelish is hoping that certain Articles will be eliminated form the warrant, so that it'll contain the articles on the high school, zoning and a few money articles only. The committee members were upset that there were so many unnecessary articles on the warrant.
