The Finance Committee asked that Article 18 be split into two articles. It dealt with 2 <br /> disbursements for the School budget. One was an appropriation of Cherry Fund Educa- <br /> tion funds for $184,000. The other was an appropriation from the taxpayers to meet the <br /> Education Bill requirement. The amount is not yet known, but will be in the range of <br /> $40,000 to $82,000_ Deirdre Greelish spoke vehemently against the Education Bill ap- <br /> propriation, saying all the Boards of Selectmen on the Cape should be suing the State on <br /> the grounds that the requirement is an unfunded mandate. The Selectmen agreed to split <br /> Article 18 into 2 articles. <br /> A Board of Health article to correct salary errors was noted because it has appeared on <br /> other October warrants. John Ferriday strongly recommended that the Health Agents be <br /> brought into the P.A.P. to stop this step-increase problem. <br /> Deirdre took exception to several articles for the same reason: the matters were thor- <br /> oughly discussed last winter and spring, and decisions were made accordingly. The Se- <br /> lectmen and town meeting decided at the May Annual Meeting not to fund these requests. <br /> Period. They should not appear again until next May.
