After the words "rather than <br /> Assistant Planner" they agreed to add "No effort has been made to <br /> hire a consultant" . The Committee also recommends Article 2.2 . The <br /> amount recommended is $7,500 to be appropriated to the Shellfish <br /> Truck Account to purchase a galvanized, 1/2-ton, 2-wheel drive <br /> pickup truck, as proposed by the Shellfish Warden. <br /> Al Polsi, Tax Payers Association, was present at the meeting. He <br /> asked whether or not any money had been budgeted for benefits, <br /> should the contracts be ratified? Denise Sullivan stepped down. <br /> Ms. Greelish explained that yes, regular raises (steps) were <br /> considered and regular changes, but any new features have not been <br /> considered because the Finance Committee has not yet been able to <br /> review the proposed contracts. Ms. Sullivan reminded the committee <br /> that the Committee had made a written request to the Board of <br /> Selectmen that they wished to review the contracts six weeks prior <br /> to their recommendations, in order to make an intelligent opinion. <br /> Mr. Dunivan requested that the Committee send a .memo to the Board <br /> of Selectmen requesting to review the contracts 10 days prior to <br /> town meeting. If the Committee does not have the contracts 10 days <br /> prior then they will recommend to postpone until May. Mr. Dunivan <br /> MOTIONED that if the Finance Committee does not get to review the <br /> contracts included in Articles 1 through 6 by Friday, September 24, <br /> 1993 , which is ten days prior to town meeting, then it is recorded <br /> that the Finance Committee will recommend that they be postponed <br /> until May. Tony Gallo seconded the Motion and Members voted 4-0, <br /> Denise Sullivan abstaining. <br /> Mr. Polsi questioned how the Finance Committee felt about Article <br /> 35? Ms. Greelish stated that the Committee had not discussed the <br /> Article. Mr. Polsi explained that there was a possibility of 40 <br /> homes being built there and that would be a tremendous cost to the <br /> tax payers of the town if it was kept residential. The Finance <br /> Committee felt that they would let the Planning Board handle the <br /> Article. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> Ms. Greelish prepared drafts of proposed memos that the Finance <br /> Committee would be sending and gave out copies for the Committee to <br /> approve. The memos written to the Board of Selectmen consisted of <br /> such topics as privatization of cleaning, and the. Finance <br /> Committees request to speed up the process of having the RFP clean <br /> certain town buildings; the second memo is in regards to the S. G. <br /> Davis School and that the excess funds at the end of the year, <br /> rather than being turned back to the town, be used to restore the <br /> school. Mr. Dunivan also suggested adding a paragraph requesting <br /> that the Board of Selectmen request Town Counsel do some research <br /> on the S.G. Davis School because it is possible that it needs to <br /> remain a school legally. The third memo was in regards to the <br />
