Page 4
Mr. Hauck asked again if there was any way the Committee would feel
comfortable voting for the $27.7 million with a stipulation that
anything costing over $24 million would need a review? The
Committee responded no.
Deirdre Greelish MOTIONED to recommend $24 . 4 million for Article
3 . Denise Sullivan seconded the Motion using Column 3 of Page 4 to
come up with the figure (attached) . John Ferriday asked whether
the Finance Committee was going to amend the Motion on the floor?
Mr. Goggin stated that the Board of Selectmen were waiting for
Their decision. Mr. Goggin stated that he was uncomfortable with
$24 . 4 million, because he was unable to get to that figure. He
understood how the figure of $27.7 million was arrived at. Ms.
Greelish responded that she was using $123 .15 per square foot
rather than the State's figure of $145 per square foot, providing
that the Marstons Mills Middle School cost per square foot was a
valid starting place to begin.
Mr. Goggin felt that there was still not enough information for the
Finance Committee to make an informed decision.
John Ferriday moved the Motion that was on the floor for $24.4
million. The vote was 3 opposed, Deirdre Greelish and Marcia King
approving.
Peter DiNizio asked whether it would be acceptable to them to have
a Finance Committee Member sit on the Building Committee? Ms.
Greelish stated that by Law it is not possible.
Denise Sullivan MOTIONED to adjourn. Marcia King seconded the
Motion and members voted 4-1. Deirdre Greelish was opposed to
adjourning without making a decision regarding the town meeting on
Saturday.
The next meeting will be held on Saturday, December 4, 1993 at
9: 30AM at the Mashpee Middle School. Minutes were submitted by
Jean M. Mooney, Recording Secretary.
