There was a change
from the prior Plan in regard to the actual cost of sending
students to Falmouth High School or Cape Cod Tech. Marcia King
MOTIONED to approve the Town's Financial Plan. Dan Goggin seconded
the Motion and members approved the Plan 4-0. Ms. King was going
to have the Financial Plan rebound.
The Committee discussed the Human Resource Director which was
recommended by the Selectmen. Ms. Sullivan thought a possible
solution would be to hire the Human Resource Director, but cut the
Personnel Administrator's hours to 25 hours. By reducing the hours
to 25, the employee would still keep all benefits. Mr. Goggin
would speak to Mr. Whritenour regarding this idea.
Mr. Goggin mentioned that he had received a telephone call from a
parent on the Parent Council who would be attending the meeting at
the School on Thursday. The Council is not in favor of hiring a
business manager.
John Ferriday prepared a list of questions from the Finance
Committee Primer, which he felt would be appropriate to ask the
School Committee at the meeting tomorrow night. A copy of the
questions are attached.
Mr. Goggin mentioned that the Committee should ask about the
contracting of janitors and how Mashpee compares with other towns.
It was also . Mr. Ferriday's opinion that the Mashpee School
Committee washes their hands of students once they leave the
Mashpee School System and go to Falmouth High School or Cape Cod
Tech. He felt that the School Board should follow up on the
students once they leave ninth grade.
