Both were initially requested back in October and again
in December. Mr. Sherman answered that the
request was for 19 hours per week, no benefits. He added that the
Department was seeking a part time individual for enforcement, and
that they have had some discussion with other Towns about the
possibility of sharing one individual for this position. Bourne
was one of the Towns mentioned. Mr. Sherman explained that he did
not feel there would be a problem finding a part time person to
work. He believed that there were many individuals wanting to get
their foot in the door doing environmental work. He also stated
that the Town Accountant gave him the salary figure of $13, 307.
Ms. Greelish asked about the clerk who was hired for part time work
after Hurricane Bob and is now a full time employee. Mx. Sherman
explained that they were in great need of clerical help even before
the hurricane, but the storm made it even clearer that they needed
help. He explained that the Department is finally caught up with
their paperwork, but a person to do the actual enforcement is
needed.
There was a question regarding bog receipts. Mr. Sherman stated
that there has been an increase in receipts over the year, due to
a leasing change. Receipts can only go back into conservation
lands and bogs.
