Mr. Dunivan asked if it would be possible to just <br /> hire one additional patrolmen and use Community Policing during the <br /> busy months. Mr. Dunivan felt that there must be some alternative. <br /> Mr. Goggin asked Chief Frye to furnish the Committee with <br /> comparison studies from other towns. Chief Frye indicated that <br /> Mashpee is just as busy as the rest of the towns on the Cape. He <br /> explained that Mashpee is right in the middle of the upper Cape. <br /> He gave the Finance Committee a copy of Crime Statistics for 1992 , <br /> Upper Cape Cod Community Policing Alliance. <br /> The group spoke next of expenses. Mr. Dunivan indicated that he <br /> recommended reducing repairs by $5,000. He also mentioned the <br /> question of portable radios vs. computer upgrading. It was Mr. <br /> Dunivan's understanding that the portable radios were more <br /> essential to the Department. Chief Frye stated that the portable <br /> radios would come from the State anyway. Mr. Dunivan mentioned <br /> that he did not recommend an antennal satellite but did recommend <br /> vehicle leasing. Chief Frye indicated that Sergeant Clancy would <br /> get more information out to the Finance Committee in regard to <br /> vehicle leasing. Mr. Dunivan then mentioned an error in the <br /> dispatcher line item. He believed that salaries were needed for 10 <br /> part timer dispatchers not 11. <br /> The meeting adjourned at 9:45PM. The next meeting will be held on <br /> Thursday, March 24, 1994 at 7:OOPM. <br />
