She felt that
communications was very high, and she asked if they had a new
telephone line or something to have the line increase so much. Mr.
Ball stated that he would prefer not to discuss the budget without
the health agent or the chairman present. Mr. Ball stated that he
was present only to discuss the two Articles, the memo and the
transfer of $1.,400 to the Town Clerk for stickers.
One Article in the Warrant was to request $8 ,800 to get 8
residences connected to town water. The Town can buy themselves
three years or so by doing this and the $1,000,000 could be put off
for the capping of the landfill temporarily. He explained that the
DEP stated that the Town has people on wells then they will mandate
that the Town cap the landfill within 6 months. Members were in agreement to vote in acceptance
of this Article. The second Article requests $10,000 for the
Septage Engineering Study. Mr. Ball explained that this was the
last payment for this study. The memo in which Mr. Ball wished to
discuss was a request for $3 ,268 to Human Health Services. Mr. Taylor stated that they would
rather not have it, but if they do he'd like to enclose it. He
didn't feel that the DPW should be in the transportation business.
i
Ms. Greelish concluded their discussion with Mr. Ball by stating
that the Finance Committee was recommending their expense budget,
but would like an explanation of why each line item was increasing
so much, especially office supplies and communications.
