Page 2 <br /> Warrant requesting $5,000 of the $10,000 originally requested for <br /> Community Policing. It was the feeling of the Finance Committee <br /> that the Town should wait for the Grant that was requested for <br /> Community Policing. As noted above, the Finance Committee approved <br /> on,•y $5,000 to the Patrolmen and Sergeants' Salary and Wage <br /> Account. Chief Frye indicated that he would speak to Mr. <br /> Whritenour about the wording change for the Article. <br /> Ms. Greelish asked that Chief Frye explain the two patrolmen <br /> requested at the meeting the previous night with the Board of <br /> Selectmen. Ms. Greelish asked if these men would be replacing the <br /> two sergeants? Chief Frye stated that he is looking to have 15 <br /> patrolmen so that he can have 5 patrolmen scheduled for each shift. <br /> This would guarantee 3 or 4 patrolmen on, due to vacation, sick <br /> time and court time. Mr. Dunivan asked if the Department hired 2 <br /> SPOs, could they be promoted or would the Chief look to hire <br /> outside? Chief Frye indicated that he would hire the SPOs if they <br /> had experience. Chief Frye stated that he would like to appoint <br /> SPOs and get them Academy Training. <br /> Ms. Greelish stated that she was very uncomfortable hiring any <br /> police of fire personnel without a completed contract. Ms. <br /> Greelish would like to tell the Departments to settle their <br /> contracts and then the issue of hiring new people could be <br /> discussed. <br /> Mr. Ferriday asked the Chief if there was ever any consideration to <br /> the offering of a course at the high school level in Criminal <br /> Justice to prepare interested people for the Academy? <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> There was a letter received by the Finance Committee from Dr. <br /> DeMouza thanking them for the invitation to their March 30th <br /> meeting. Due to a Conflict in schedule they would be unable to <br /> attend. The letter invited the Finance Committee to an April 7th <br /> meeting at the Coombs School. The letter also indicated that the <br /> Finance Committee's projected enrollment is to low. <br /> The second letter was written to Dr. DeMoura by the Finance <br /> Committee requesting a copy of the teacher's contract used to <br /> determine the funds needed for the FY95 salary budget. The letter <br /> also reminds the Superintendent of a previous request for the data <br /> used to support the graph of historical per pupil expenditures, the <br /> calculation used to determine the salary increases needed for FY95 <br /> and the basis upon which your FY95 enrollment projection is <br /> determined. <br /> Two seasonal employees were discussed for the DPW. It was the <br /> feeling of Ms. Greelish that if the Town could get $130,000 from <br /> the Hydra Geo Study Account, $10,000 could be placed in the funding <br /> for the Septage Treatment study and $8,800 could be placed into the <br />
