a <br /> MASHPEE FINANCE COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES <br /> APRIL 20, 1994 <br /> MEETING COMMENCED AT 7:OOPM <br /> Members Present: Dan Goggin, Chairman; Deirdre Greelish, Vice <br /> Chairman; Denise Sullivan; John Ferriday; and Marcia King. Tony <br /> Gallo and Roger Dunivan were unable to attend. <br /> Please note for the record that the taping of this meeting was for <br /> the transcription of the Minutes only. Once the Minutes are <br /> approved, the tapes will be reused. <br /> MINUTES <br /> The Minutes of April 5, 1994 have not yet been approved. Marcia <br /> King MOTIONED to approve the Minutes of March 30, 1994 as written. <br /> Denise Sullivan seconded the Motion and members approved the <br /> Minutes 5-0. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> There was a letter addressed to the Finance Committee from Dr. <br /> DeMoura advising the Committee that the Teachers' Contract has not <br /> yet been signed but is presently being typed. Once all changes <br /> have been approved, the Finance Committee will be forwarded a copy. <br /> RESERVE FUND TRANSFER REQUEST <br /> There was a request in the amount of $8,905 to be transferred to <br /> the Police Expense Account from the Reserve Fund for ordinary and <br /> necessary operating expenses. The explanation for this request was <br /> for $6, 323. 38 over budget for repairs and heat, $538.73 over budget <br /> for Colonial Gas and $192 over budget in professional dues. <br /> Deirdre Greelish MOTIONED to NOT approve this transfer request. <br /> Marcia Kind seconded the Motion and Finance Committee members <br /> disapproved this request by a vote of 5-0. <br /> HERRING DEPARTMENT <br /> Mr. Shaughnessy and Mr. Buchenfeldt were at the meeting on behalf <br /> of the Herring Warden's budget. The gentlemen were present to <br /> discuss the fact that the Herring Runs are essential to Mashpee and <br /> they need to be Dept up. Mr. Shaughnessy felt that there should be <br /> $1,000 in the salary account rather than $500. He also thought <br /> that the idea of placing the responsibilities under either the <br /> Harbormaster or the Shellfish Warden would be a good one. It was <br /> the feeling of the gentlemen that somebody needed to take <br /> responsibility. Ms. Sullivan suggested placing the responsibility <br /> back into the Department of Public Works, where it had been <br /> previously. Mr. Shaughnessy also felt that this was a possibility. <br /> Ms. Sullivan asked if the work currently being done is being done <br />
