A letter was sent to the Finance
Committee from Dr. DeMoura, Superintendent, inviting them to meet
the three finalists for the new principal. She mentioned that there were a lot of parents really
upset at the idea of moving juniors and seniors out of a school
where they have been attending. The Committee agreed that the
School Committee would be invited to attend their next meeting on
June 28th to discuss this issue, as well as many other issues
involved in opening the new high school.
Mr. Goggin mentioned that he had attended a Governmental Accounting
and Auditing Conference regarding Education Reform. Mr. Goggin felt that the
cost would be approximately $10 to $15,000. The Committee
suggested that he speak to the Executive Secretary about this.
Deirdre Greelish, liaison to the Finance Committee, for the
Taxpayers' Association, was present at the meeting to discuss to
the Computer Committee. The Committee agreed that a memo be sent
to Mr. Whritenour asking that he inform Mr. Goggin of a convenient
time to meet with the Computer Committee to discuss what is needed
for additional computer assistance.
