MASHPEE FINANCE COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES <br /> JULY 26, 1994 <br /> JOINT MEETING COMMENCED AT 7:10PM <br /> Members present: Dan Goggin, Chairman; Marcia King, Vice Chairman; <br /> John Ferriday; Juan Bacigalupi; Tony Gallo and Denise Sullivan. <br /> School Committee Members present: Lincoln DeMoura, Superintendent; <br /> Maryanne Gibbs, Chairman; Steve Paxton; Elizabeth Petti; Janice <br /> Mills and David Consalvi. <br /> Please note for the record that the taping of this meeting was for <br /> the transcription of the Minutes only. Once the Minutes are <br /> approved, the tapes will be reused. <br /> MINUTES <br /> Marcia King MOTIONED to accept the Minutes of June 28, 1994. , Juan <br /> Bacigalupi seconded the Motion and members voted in approval of the <br /> Minutes as written 4-0. Tony Gallo and Denise Sullivan abstaining. <br /> There were four items on the agenda to discuss. The first item <br /> being the projected enrollments for 1994-1995. Dr. DeMoura <br /> explained that they were expecting approximately 100 more students <br /> in k-8. There is 150 students enrolled to date. Mr. Goggin asked <br /> if these projections were updated and how often? Dr. DeMoura <br /> answered that these were actual figures and not projections. <br /> Copies were handed out to the Finance Committee members with the <br /> enrollment figures by building and grade as of October 1, 1993 . <br /> The second item discussed was the Finance Committee's Long Range <br /> Plan. Dr. DeMoura indicated that the Finance Committee put a lot <br /> of work into the Plan and that the School Department's budget <br /> finally approved was the number in the Long Range Plan. Dr. <br /> DeMoura asked if they were intending on using the Long Range Plants <br /> number for the proposed School's budget in FY96? Mr. Goggin <br /> responded that the Finance Committee has not updated the Long Range <br /> Plan, but that they would review to see if the figure was <br /> appropriate and also review each department. Dr. DeMoura mentioned <br /> that it would be very helpful to the School Committee if a number <br /> could be identified before the holidays. He explained that a lot <br /> of work was involved in their budgeting also. Mr. Goggin also <br /> mentioned that the Finance Committee also intended- to learn the <br /> formula for the Education Reform Act and see where Mashpee stands. <br /> The third item discussed was capital needs. Dr. DeMoura asked the <br /> Finance Committee to discuss the possibility of the School placing <br /> their capital needs in a separate line item. For example, the <br /> school needs to replace a van for Special Needs. Ms. Gibbs <br /> mentioned that if the Finance Committee agreed to placing capital <br /> needs in articles, the funds allocated would need to be used for <br /> exactly what was approved.
