Board of Selectmen Minutes 4 January 11, 1999 APPOINTMENTS AND IMARINQS, Cranberry Bog Update- (continued) Mr. Minor indicated that property access and construction easements are critical to build this project in an expeditious manner. It was noted that crop compensation is not authorized beyond the dated on CY99. It is necessary to have one year of clean water for the cranberry crop to be marketable, although there is no guarantee that Ocean Spray will purchase the crop informed Selectman Caffyn. Robert Sherman, Conservation Agent indicated that the order of conditions and emergency certification are presently in progress. He suggested that the Selectmen consult Town Counsel with respect to construction easements before the process is to continue. Mr. Sherman related concern with respect to the native trout fisheries_ Town Counsel, David Doneski indicated that he will render a legal opinion with respect to this matter before the date of January 21, 1999. Bill Fisher, Environmental Consultant stated that the pilot results are the key to perfect the design. He agreed that the pilot concept makes sense. He is expected to furnish written comment to the Selectmen next week with respect to this regard. Mashpee resident,Ed Baker requested that the results of the E. Briarwood plume be also reviewed. William Fisher-PI m e: Greg Taylor, Chairman of the Selectmen's Ad Hoc Committee appointed to study plume related issues was present with William Fisher of Woodard and Curran, Environmental Consultants to discuss assessments relative to the study of the SD-5, CS-10, and FS-I plumes emanating from the MMR. In addition, Mashpee's current drinking water supplies threatened by encroaching plumes, and projected water supplies was discussed.
