2 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> February 23, 1999 <br /> FY 2000 BUDGET WORKSHOP SESSION: <br /> The override is equivalent to approximately$ .70 on the tax rate. It will <br /> cost an average homeowner an additional $104 in annual taxes. The <br /> $1,000,000 override would provide an additional $250,000 for Town <br /> Departments and $750,000 in school funding. <br /> Mr. Whritenour provided an additional budget for the Selectmen's review, <br /> which uses all available revenues to present a balanced budget within the <br /> constraints of the Town's levy limit. The budget provides for a$700,000 <br /> increase in the School Department's budget. It also funds all basic Town <br /> services, but eliminates staff increases. The budget will result in the layoff <br /> of a clerical position in the Building Department that was funded for one <br /> year by Southport, an outside funding source. <br /> Mr. Whritenour presented a breakdown of the override amounts to the <br /> Selectmen; <br /> $ 24,975 Selectmen's Office Secretary <br /> $ 17,000 Conservation Assistant Agent to full-time <br /> $ 34,768 Police Secretary and Additional Overtime <br /> $ 19,828 Building Clerk Position <br /> $ 14,649 Animal Control part-time Assistant&Expenses <br /> $ 45,567 DPW Two Skilled Laborer Positions <br /> $ 28,000 DPW Engineering Assistant <br /> $ 20,000 Health Solid Waste Expenses <br /> $ 19,827 Council on Aging Secretary/Receptionist <br /> $ 25,386 Medical Insurance-Town <br /> $750,000 School Department Additional Funds <br /> (Must Include Medical Insurance) <br /> $1,000,000 Total <br />
