1 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> March 22, 1999 <br /> Present: Selectman Marsters, Selectman Taylor, Selectman Leveille <br /> Town Administrator Robert Whritenour <br /> Assistant Town Administrator Joyce Mason <br /> Absent: Selectman Frye, Selectman Caffyn <br /> Meeting Called to Order by Chairman Marsters at 3:35 p.m. <br /> Town Hall, Conference Room#1. <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> 1~Y 2000 Budget Review: <br /> The Board of Selectmen held a workshop session for the purpose of <br /> reviewing the FY 2000 budget. Diane Rommelmeyer,the Town <br /> Accountant was in attendance. <br /> DPW: <br /> Greg Taylor,Director of Public Works was present to discuss his budget <br /> request for fiscal year 2000. Mr. Taylor recommended the Board consider <br /> the employment of a Town Engineer to assist with the Department of <br /> Public Works with design and permitting issues. <br /> Presently,the DPW has twelve ongoing construction projects, and a <br /> number of design and operational projects. Programs include; roadway <br /> improvements, signaliaation, traffic mitigation, traffic studies, and <br /> building maintenance projects. <br /> Mr. Taylor indicated that the employment of a Town Engineer will also <br /> provide full-time assistance and available inspections for the Planning <br /> Board, Building Department,Board of Appeals and Board of Health. <br /> The coordination of G.I.S. information is also needed for effective Town <br /> management explained Mr. Taylor in support. The requested amount for <br /> the Town Engineer position is $57,200. The sum of$28,000 will provide <br /> for an engineering assistant without benefits. The total request is $85,200. <br />
