9 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> July 12, 1999 <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> Anointment of Volunteer Assistant Harbor Masters: <br /> Mr. Ellis requested the Board appoint three individuals to serve as <br /> volunteer Harbor Masters to educate the boaters using the waters within <br /> the Town of Mashpee. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Blythe to appoint Wayne Bevacqua and <br /> Jack Gillis as Volunteer Assistant Harbor Masters for Johns Pond, <br /> and Albert Orlando as Volunteer Assistant Harbor Master for <br /> Ashumet Pond as recommended. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Cahalane. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> A ointment of Life rds: <br /> Jim Marr, Leisure Services Program Supervisor was present to request the <br /> Board appoint three individuals to the position of Lifeguard. It was noted <br /> that two Mashpee residents are presently fifteen years of age. <br /> Individuals at the age of fifteen can received"senior"lifeguard <br /> certification due to a change in the American Red Cross lifeguard <br /> certification program. There are no negative implications that would <br /> involve the Town insurance or other matters of legality informed Mr. Marr <br /> who recommended approval. Presently, there is a shortage of beach <br /> lifeguard staff. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Leveille to appoint John Morgan, Russell <br /> Perry and James West as Lifeguards for the 1999 season as <br /> recommended. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Blythe. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br />
