5 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> September 27, 1999 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Public Hearin —Package Store Sundgy Qpenings: (continued) <br /> Selectman Marsters opened the hearing to solicit comment. <br /> Mashpee resident Betty Nichols stated that she does not feel there is <br /> a need to sell liquor on Sundays. <br /> Being no further comment,the Board motioned to close the Public <br /> Hearing. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Leveille to close the Public Hearing. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Taylor. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br /> Selectman Blythe abstained. <br /> *Motion made by Selectman Leveille to allow Sunday openings <br /> for all package stores to begin the Sunday before Thanksgiving and each <br /> subsequent Sunday thereafter until New Years Day for calendar year <br /> 1999, 2000, and 2001. <br /> *Motion seconded by Selectman Cahalan. <br /> *VOIE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br /> Selectman Blythe abstained, <br /> Mr. Anderson questioned the legality of the above motion stating that <br /> if the Selectmen were to mare Sunday business hours a part of the current <br /> liquor licenses for liquor stores, it should be for the life of the license. <br /> The Board agreed to consult Town Counsel with respect to this regard. <br /> Motion amended by Selectman Leveille to allow Sunday openings <br /> for all package stores to begin the Sunday before Thanksgiving and <br /> each subsequent Sunday thereafter until New Years Day for calendar <br /> Year 1999 only. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Cahalane. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br /> Selectman Blythe abstained. <br /> I <br />
