Board of Selectmen
Minutes 2
February 24, 1998
Fire Departm :
Chief Baker discussed the response history of the Fire Department
over the past twelve years and the influx of ambulatory response.
He requested the Board consider(4)new FireFighter positions to
increase the present level of staffing to support the continued growth of
the community.
It was noted that a petition article relative to the(4) new FireFighter
positions will appear on the Town Meeting warrant.
In addition, Chief Baker recommended the Board consider the new
position of Inspector,to assist his department with mandated inspections.
The shift officer and deputy chief presently share this duty.
Selectman Caffyn suggested the Board review the services and rates of
Fire Department Inspectional Fees from comparable towns.
Mr. Whritenour indicated that his budget has been prepared to preserve
the current level of service. The Ambulance Billing Clerk position is
included in his recommended budget. Future requests for(4)additional
FireFighters and an Inspector are not included in his budget recommendation
for fiscal year 1999.
Police Department:
William C. Przybylek, Chief of Police was present to discuss the FY99
budget with the Board of Selectmen. The three major budget categories
include; Police/Salary Wage, Police Expense and Dispatcher Salary/Wage.
The Police Salary/Wage Account reflects additional contractual requirements.
Three 75% federally funded positions are included in the budget, and remain
consistent with the long range plans for the Police Department. After three years,
the funding is 100% local contribution.
The full-time Clerk and Maintenance Coordinator position requests have been
removed from the FY99 budget at this time.
