Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes 8 <br /> March 16, 1998 <br /> COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE: <br /> T Ribbon Cuttingre n <br /> April 30, 1998 -Mashpcc Commons <br /> OLD BUSINESS: <br /> Appointment of Police_Offis <br /> Correspondence was received from Marilyn Farren,Personnel <br /> Administrator and William C. Przybylek, Chief of Police dated <br /> March 12, 1998 recommending the Board appoint Jon Read to <br /> the position of full-time Police Officer effective, March 30, 1998. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Frye to appoint Jon Read as a <br /> full-time Police Officer; effective March 30, 1998 as recommended. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Marsters. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 3-0. <br /> Dispatching Proposal: <br /> William Przybylek, Chief of Police and George Baker,Fire Chief were present <br /> to recommend the Board transfer the primary Fire/EMS dispatch services to the <br /> Barnstable County Sheriff's Department. <br /> The County has offered a reasonable contract that satisfies our logistical <br /> requirements informed Chief Przybylek. From a financial standpoint, the <br /> proposed contract will save the Town of Mashpee significant funds. It is <br /> estimated that approximately $20,000 will be saved in added overtime expenses. <br /> Chief Przybylek indicated that a new automated telephone system has been <br /> installed. The telephone system has resulted in a 90%reduction in general. <br /> information and non-service calls that dispatchers have been handling. In <br /> addition, grant funding has been attained to install computers in each police <br /> cruiser. The computer terminals will allow officers to obtain Registry and State <br /> Criminal History Systems Board information directly without the assistance of <br /> dispatchers. <br />
