Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes 3 <br /> March 23, 1998 <br /> APPOINIlAENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> School Committee re: Budget: (continued) <br /> Selectman Costa directed Mr. Whritenour to work with the School Committee <br /> to work towards a School budget compromise prior to the execution of the <br /> Annual Town Meeting warrant. <br /> Jim Cleary, Finance Committee member suggested that the current school year <br /> surplus, and perhaps a reduction in the Capital Improvement Program be <br /> considered as potential funding sources. <br /> Mrs. Lynch noted that the School Department is presently in deficit spending <br /> as a result of mandated special education costs, and energy consumption costs. <br /> *Agenda topic, Monday, March 30, 1998 - 6:00 p.m. <br /> School Committee re: Equipment Purchase Reams <br /> The School Committee requested the Board's consideration to purchase <br /> (8)video disc players in the amount to $7,120. The specialized equipment <br /> will be used in the biology, science and language laboratories. <br /> Selectman Marsters requested a list of available funds for the High School <br /> project, and final package for project closure. The matter will be further <br /> reviewed, and placed as a future agenda topic of discussion. <br /> PUBLIC COMMENT: <br /> Snead Drive resident, Dick Baldic indicated concern with respect to the <br /> proposed extention of Job's Fishing Road. He noted that there appears to <br /> be a lack of communication on future planning. The residents of the Quashnet <br /> Valley Association have not yet been formally notified of this intent. <br /> The above matter will be placed on the Selectmen's agenda of Monday, <br /> March 30, 1998 for further review. <br /> I <br />
