Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> May 4, 1998 <br /> Present: Selectman Costa, Selectman Frye, Selectman Marsters, Selectman Caffyn <br /> Executive Secretary Robert Whritenour <br /> Assistant to the Executive Secretary Joyce Mason <br /> Guests: Diane Rommclmeyer, Town Accountant <br /> Theresa Dowdy, Town Counsel <br /> Meeting Called to Order by Chairman Costa at 6:30 p-m. <br /> Quashnet School, prior to the May Annual Town Meeting. <br /> Town Meeting e ie : <br /> Article#10: To fund a full-time Floating Administrative Clerk position. <br /> Mr. Whritenour,Executive Secretary recommended the Board indefinitely <br /> postpone Article#10 in an effort to conserve municipal funds. He suggested <br /> the Board consider the position request in the future. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Frye to accept the recommendation of the <br /> Executive Secretary to indefinitely postpone Article#10 of the Annual <br /> Town Meeting warrant. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Caffyn. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br /> Article#28: To provide funding for a detailed study of nitrogen loading <br /> tolerances of each of the sub-embayments of Popponesset Bay. <br /> Study to be undertaken by the University of Massachusetts <br /> Center for Marine Science and Technology for the sum of <br /> $150,000. <br /> Funding proposed to be borrowed from the State Revolving Fund(SRF) loan <br /> program which provides zero interest loans for such studies, is presently not <br /> available for the Town of Mashpee's study. <br /> Mr. Whritenour recommended the Board reduce the expenditure by one half, <br /> or$75,000 at this time, and commit to fund the second half of the study in <br /> October. <br />
