Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes 4 <br /> May 18, 1998 <br /> PUBLIC COMMENT: <br /> George Green, a member of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal Council <br /> and Conservation Commission related concern with respect to the issue <br /> of late night herring poaching. <br /> Mr. Green requested the Board place signagc to close the flume parking lot <br /> during the evening to any fishing after dark. The Tribal Council is expected <br /> to endorse the proposal if approved by the Selectmen noted Mr. Green. <br /> The matter was discussed with Sergeant Umina of the Mashpee Police <br /> Department. The police are expected to increase patrol during the herring <br /> season informed Mr. Green who suggested that Town Counsel be consulted <br /> with regards to the specific signage language. <br /> Signage Approval -Herring Run, <br /> Motion made by Selectman Caffyn to place the above topic <br /> as an agenda item of discussion. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Frye. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Caffyn to approve the request for signage <br /> to close the parking lot to the herring run after dark based upon approval <br /> from the Chief of Police and Town Counsel. Mr. Green was authorized to <br /> assist with this matter upon approval. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Frye. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> COMMUNICATION AND CORRESPONDENCE: <br /> A ceremony to transfer the title of the Indian Museum was held today. <br /> Selectman Frye, Selectman Caffyn and Selectman Leveille were present on <br /> behalf of the Board of Selectmen. Mr. Whritenour was also in attendance. <br /> Agenda item: June 8, 1998: Sheriff DeMello re. proposed location of <br /> jail/correctional institute, 6:30 p.m. <br />
