Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes 7 <br /> June 22, 1998 <br /> LD <br /> Discussion relative in e - <br /> Correspondence was received from Town Counsel dated June 5, 1998 <br /> relative to the enforcement of the Finance Committee By-law as it relates to <br /> a municipal employee serving simultaneously as an elected member <br /> of the Town's Finance Committee. <br /> Steve Cashman,the Town firefighter that was elected,and sworn in as <br /> a member of the Finance Committee was present to review this matter with <br /> the Board. A brief discussion ensued. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Leveille to dismiss the matter,and allow <br /> Mr. Cashman to continue as a member of the Finance Committee,and <br /> further address the unclear bylaw at the October Town Meeting. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Taylor. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> CQrreSpmdence from Council on Aging rct : P x <br /> Voucher Guidelines: <br /> Jim Long, the Council on Aging Director was present to recommend the <br /> Board adopt the 1998 HUD Guidelines for Barnstable County in the <br /> Low Income; 1 person: $26,500 to 8 person$49,950 household. It was <br /> noted that Low Income=Moderate in HUD language. <br /> Discussion followed with regards to the budget of the tax work-off <br /> voucher system, The sum of$2,000 has been budgeted for this purpose. <br /> Greg Taylor suggested the Board focus on talent, and not income to assist <br /> the municipality in volunteer work-off services. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Frye to adopt the 1998 HUD Guidelines <br /> for Barnstable County in the low income as recommended for the <br /> property tax voucher guidelines. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Taylor. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br /> Selectman Caffyn abstained. <br />
