Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes 8 <br /> July 20, 1998 <br /> OLD BUSIh SS: <br /> Memorandumfrom Selectman Caffr : Back Road <br /> Selectman Caffyn discussed her memorandum to the Selectmen dated <br /> July 10, 1998 relative to the suggested construction of Back Road which <br /> is located north of Briarwood. <br /> With the issue of the proposed closing of Ashumet Road, and the requirement <br /> of a large number of residents using the intersection of Currier Road and <br /> Route 151, Selectman Caffyn recommended the Board consider placing an <br /> article on the Town Meeting warrant to improve the present conditions of <br /> Back Road to allow residents to connect to Sandwich Road, and utilize the <br /> signalization on Route 151 and Sandwich Road. <br /> It was noted that MMR is expected to install six monitoring wells in <br /> October in the area of Hooppole Road. Future construction is also expected <br /> with the installation of reinjection wells. <br /> Tom Fudala,the Town Planner indicated that Back Road is not a Town road. <br /> He suggested that the private road be taken by the normal Town Meeting <br /> process. The process involves the creation of a Town layout, approval of <br /> funds for the layout, and approval of construction betterment's informed <br /> Mr. Fudala. <br /> Selectman Marsters allowed public comment on this matter. <br /> Gary Tavares, a resident of Crescent Road indicated that Back Road was <br /> properly taken care of until the Air Force Base let it go. 1t was maintained <br /> until funds depleted. Mr. Tavares indicated that the use of Back Road gives <br /> a safer highway with the use of the lights on Sandwich Road and Route 151. <br /> Matt Glayer recommended the Board consider the use of placards for residents <br /> during the Barnstable County Fair. Police Officers will be able to accurately <br /> identify residents not linked to fair traffic. Sergeant Bevacqua will be consulted <br /> with respect to this regard. <br />
