For October 5, 1998 Annual Town Meeting <br /> Article <br /> To see if the Town will vote to amend the zoning bylaw by adding the words "or <br /> Commonwealth of Massachusetts" after the phrase "is acquired by the town" in the first <br /> sentence of Subsection 174-28.C., or take any other action related thereto. <br /> Submitted by Board of Selectmen <br /> Explanation: <br /> This Subsection currently provides that if land is taken by the Town, or donated to the <br /> Town, for roadway or utility purposes, the parcel from which the land is acquired will be <br /> treated, for the purpose of calculating lot size, setbacks, allowed lot coverage etc., as if <br /> the parcel still included the land that was acquired. This amendment would extend that <br /> provision to lands acquired in the same fashion by the state. The intent of the bylaw and <br /> amendment is to reduce the costs associated with land acquisition for roadway <br /> improvements. <br /> I <br /> i <br />
