Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes 6 <br /> August 24, 1998 <br /> APPMD ENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Liquor License Public Hearing-Abdul H. Mian d/b/a Mashaee Country Store: <br /> (continued) <br /> Selectman Marsters opened the hearing to obtain comment. <br /> Patricia Hicks voiced concern to the liquor license request as it relates to <br /> promoting younger age drinking and to the close proximity of the church. <br /> Helen Faxon added that there are enough places selling beer and wine. This <br /> is an area proposed as a historical district noted Ms. Faxon. <br /> Ellen Hendricks stated that she is very opposed to the proposal, and made note <br /> of past problems. Ms. Hendricks spoke in concern for the Mashpee Baptist <br /> Church, <br /> Leroy Faxon related concern with respect to young children utilizing the area <br /> bikepath. Pauline Hicks also expressed concern to the church, and about the <br /> past problems that have occurred in the area. Betty Nichols stated that the area <br /> should be respectful of the church. <br /> Being no further comment, Selectman Marsters requested a vote from the <br /> Board to close the public hearing. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Caffyn to close the Public Hearing. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Frye. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Discussion followed. The Board related concern to the sale of alcohol across <br /> from what is to be a public park and to the close proximity of the area church. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Caffyn todeny-the application of <br /> Abdul H. Mian, d/b/a Mashpce country Store,Abdul H. Mian,Manager <br /> for an Annual Package Store Wine and Malt License. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Frye. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br />
