Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes 10 <br /> August 24, 1998 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Public Hearing-Algonquin Avenue Conversions (continued) <br /> Christine Cravera stated that the road as it presently exists is a <br /> hazard, and will be more of a safety hazard when it is paved due to <br /> high speed traffic. Ms. Cravera recommended the Board consider <br /> taking the entire neighborhood as a whole. Area residents cannot get <br /> to their homes without traveling on Algonquin. All the residents should <br /> contribute betterment costs explained Ms. Cravera who urged the Selectmen <br /> to authorize the repair of the pot holes prior to the start of school. <br /> Mr. Martin,Algonquin Road also suggested that the area residents contribute <br /> to the betterment. Traffic on the 30 mph road was also deemed a concern. <br /> Steve Cashman indicated that the house lots are modest. Most homes are <br /> 10,000 square feet. Many residents cannot afford the betterment charge. <br /> Chief Przybylek was requested to address and monitor the road for high speed <br /> traffic. Greg Taylor,Director of Public Works will be requested to install <br /> 30 mph signage on Algonquin Avenue. <br /> Discussion followed. It is the consensus of the Board to further review cost <br /> estimates to include all streets within the Algonquin Avenue neighborhood. <br /> Selectman Caffyn suggested the Board become proactive to recoup costs <br /> from the military to cover water connection fees. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Frye to do the conversion of <br /> Algonquin Avenue from a private to a public way. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Leveille. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Recess: 8:25 p.m. Meeting Resumed: 8:30 p.m. <br />
