Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes 11 <br /> August 24, 1998 <br /> OLD BUSINESS. <br /> Request of Popponesset Beach Association-Amendment of Toy+m's <br /> Traffic Rules and Publication of Notio. <br /> The Board was in receipt of correspondence dated July 6, 1998 <br /> from William C. Przybylek, Chief of Police relative to the request of <br /> the Popponesset Beach Association to assure proper enforcement of <br /> "No on Street"parking regulations. Correspondence dated July 2, 1998 <br /> and July 7, 1998 from Popponesset Beach Association was also reviewed. <br /> Chief Przybylek indicated that the Popponesset Beach Association,Board <br /> of Directors has requested that a number of private roads in PBA be added <br /> to the Restricted Parking section of the Town's Traffic Rules. <br /> If the Selectmen agree to add the listed streets, police officers would be able <br /> to issue parking tickets, at their discretion when violations are noted informed <br /> Chief Przybylek. The PBA would also be responsible to obtain and post <br /> legally sufficient signs of every street listed. <br /> If the Selectmen do not agree to add the streets to the Town Traffic Rules, <br /> police officers would be limited to enforce, at their discretion,that a ten foot <br /> lane be maintained on any street open to travel by the general public. Officers <br /> would have the ability to maintain clear lanes for any emergency vehicles. <br /> Ken Bates, a member of the PBA Board of Directors indicated that a special <br /> meeting was held on June 17, 1998 with respect to this regard. The PBA has <br /> requested the Town assure proper enforcement of"No on Street"parking <br /> regulations. The motion cared by a margin of 285 to 61 informed Mr. Bates. <br /> Selectman Marsters opened the hearing to obtain comment. <br /> Bill Duffy asked if he will be compensated by the Town if he is unable to park <br /> on the road in front of his property. Chris Konneski indicated that he has seven <br /> children,two cars and a boat. He suggested the Board review Wading Place <br /> and Shore Drive. Mr. Konneski stated that they were Town owned roads in 1938. <br /> Why are they PBA roads now? <br />
