There are no other restrictions in Town that
enforce "No on Street"parking regulations explained Selectman Caffyn
who suggested that consideration be given to the year round residents of
Popponesset.
Mr. Bates added that funding has been obtained for signage which has
enabled the residents to petition for signage.
Virginia Landry stated that it has been unwritten law which was published
each year in the Enterprise giving formal notification for no public parking.
Area resident,Bill Zammer recommended the Selectmen consider the use
of seasonal stickers as a possible solution to the problem for the issue appears
to be a private community matter.
Shari LaPorte made several comments relative to the Board's previous vote
of approval for signage, and presented photos to the Selectmen of the area
of discussion.
Discussion followed. Selectman Leveille suggested the Board further review
the road issue as it relates to public and privately owned roads.
Motion made by Selectman Leveille to postpone any resolution to
the proposal until Chief Przybylek has had the opportunity to review
the legal aspects of seasonal parking, and until the Board has had the
opportunity to review the legality of Shore and Wading Place Roads.
Motion seconded by Selectman Caffyn.
VOTE 3-2. Motion carries.
Selectman Frye, Selectman Taylor in opposition.
The Board is also expected to obtain legal opinion with regards to
the enforcement of speed limitations.
