1
September 28, 1998
Office of the Selectmen
Great Neck Road
Mashpee, MA 02649
Dear Selectmen:
I am writing to you concerning the safety issues involving Swnpsons Mill
and Kings Grant Roads. Over the past years numerous accidents have
occurred involving cars, trucks and motorcycles. At one time this back road
was traveled by the few that lived here and the few who used it as a short cut
from Cotuit to Mashpee, As development has occurred this back road has
become a raceway. We need to come up with a solution. If I understand
correctly the Quinquessett — School Street Bridge is due to be closed for a
two-year repair. The only two ways into Cotuit\Mashpee are Sampsons Mill
and Cotuit Main Street. Last week a pickup truck lost control, swerved, hit
the Santuit River Bridge guardrail and left the scene. The police were
notified. If there had been a child, horse, or anyone there, a fatality would
have been certain. Please give this area your full attention before a fatality
occurs.
k
Thank you for your time and consideration with this undoubtedly
dangerous situation.
Sincerely,
R
Robin and Jim Blakeman
