1
BOARD OF SELECTMEN Page 9
MINUTES
AUGUST 209 1990
Christopher Burden re: Sewage Treatment Plant:
9:05 p.m. Chris Burden presented the -need to the town and Board
to expedite matters. In 1987, New Seabury applied for the plant
to serve the general area of Popponesset :Marketplace. The Board
of Health. requested other facilities to tie in with this system.
DEP legal said nd more than one entity to be serviced by one
plant, but if the town owned the plant, more than one entity could
be served.
DEP states the problem with the approval of the plant is local.
Kevin Harrington suggests the Board of Selectmen to send a
letter to DEP of the pending application and recommend their
basic support since the technical aspects have been .met.
The Board of Health sent a letter to DEP withdrawing their
request. They gave their approval, but did not -agree with different
ownership.
The Sewer Commission does not have any regulatory power since
it does not have any sewer plants. The actual design and technical
side have never been an issue.
The final revised plans were recieved last week so it is
assumed DEP has just recieved the plans. This may be the reason .
for approval delay.
It is the consensus of the Board of Selectmen for Mr. Harrington
. to draft a letter to DEP concerning this matter.
Being no further business to discuss, Selectman Hanson made
the motion to adjourn. Chairman Carter seconded the motion.
The vote is unanimous with the Board. The meeting adjourned at
9:18 'p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Kathleen M. -Soares
