BOARD OF SELECTMEN page 8 4" MINUTES AUGUST 20, 1990 A ointment of Coastal Zone Mang event Advisory 'Committee: In a letter to 'Selectman Lawrence, the Cape Cod Commission has requested a representative from the town to serve on the committee. The 1990-1991 season commences on Tuesday, September the 4th. Appointment of a member and an alternate from the town is essential to complete representation. Selectman Lawrence would like to see appointments brought up as quickly as possible. Selectman Jacobson states that people are being interviewed and Chairman Carter will place this on the September 4th adgenda. SEMASS re: Annual Run for the Environment: The designated 10k race will be held on September the 8th. Each community is asked to designate a runner for this event. Kevin Harrington will post for this event. Legal Opinions: Chairman Carter discussed this matter with the Board concerning certain Departments and Boards making requests for legal opinions with?''authorization from the Board of Selectmen. Kevin Harrington will instruct the Town Accountant and notify all -Departments and Town Council of this situation. Town Council should not except the phone calls. Attendance at Board Meetings : Chairman Carter is concerned about the lack of attendance at the board meetings and members leaving the meetings during hearings or general discussions. The Selectmen agree this is a well taken point. Selectman Lawrence feels the board should not schedule Executive Sessions until after Appointments and Hearings. Senior Center Buildina Committee : Selectman Jacobson would like to appoint Robert Osborne and Charles Buckingham to the Senior Center Building, Committee. She feels it is necessary to form a committee to obtain 1990 census and demographics. The facts and figures are required to. apply for grants. Selectman Jacobson requeststhe appointment of two members at this time and apply for other members. Chairman Carter agrees. Selectman Hanson stages funds are available with Friends of Senior Citizens that have not been used, but two people are not enough to form a committee. He would like .to stress to form a committee with five members. The motion was made by Selectman Hanson to move to Executive Session to discuss possible litigation about the town. The board will reconvene after discussion. Selectman Lawrence seconded the motio'l. The vote is unanimous with the Selectmen.
