BOARD OF SELECTMEN <br /> MINUTES Page 5. <br /> AUGUST 28, 1990 - SPECIAL MEETING <br /> Article 4:• <br /> Selectman Lawrence feels the Board of Selectmen are not <br /> responsible for the tuition deficit to Falmouth High School. <br /> Selectman Jacobson agrees and states the article should <br /> be submitted by the School Committee. <br /> Jim Vaccaro notes there was a surplus in the school depart- <br /> ment' s budget of $121, 000 that was retur ned to pay for this. <br /> Dr. Petti feels it is unrealistic to take this amount of <br /> money. out of the school department's budget. <br /> This type of management decision will be addressed in the <br /> October Annual rather than the May states Selectman Gottlieb. <br /> Article 36: <br /> Appropriation of $10, 000 to repair private roads. Kevin <br /> Harrington has recieved many calls on the roads in the town that <br /> are in deplorable shape. <br /> Mr. Virgilio states it is a matter of public safety; The <br /> roads are almost impassible for residents, school transportation <br /> and emergency vehicles. <br /> This issue is agreed upon. Mr. Reardon states emergency <br /> repairs are - provided by statue. <br /> Article <br /> Collective bargaining issue to be radified by the Board of <br /> Selectmen next week. <br /> Article 40: <br /> Vehicle lease contract - Mr. Ferriday states the vehicle is <br /> in good condition with new tires and approximately 36, 000 miles. <br /> The lease has expired. The vehicle may be bought for $3, 650. <br /> The Board feels the Fire Chief may be able to use this vehicle. <br /> Article 42: <br /> This is the first step towards the 6-8 million dollar waste <br /> water treatment facility plant. <br /> Mr. Harrington. will get .the dollar amourit of this article <br /> before town meeting. It is a windup of the pilot study. He feels <br /> the state will accept what has been done at this level. <br /> Article 4.3: . <br /> Selectman Hanson reviewed this article. He has met with <br /> Mashpee Commons and they are very close to finalizing the agreement <br /> with their portion this week. <br /> The amount was for a two lane which has been changed to a four <br /> _lane road. The amount of money the Commons will contribute will be <br /> applied to the ent rance. <br />
