BOARD OF SELECTMEN SEP 1000 . MINUTES TUESDAY , SEPTEMBER 4, 1990 - REGULAR SESSION MASIVEE SELECTf&N'S . OFFICE Present: Selectman Carter, Selectman Hanson, Selectman Jacobson, Selectman Lawrence Executive Secretary Kevin J. Harrington Town CounSel Joseph Reardon Guestsi Dr. Petti, Dean Driscoll, Nick Feldman, Paul Ott, Ernest Virgilio, Chief Robert Ridgeway, Scott Fronius The Meeting was Called to Order by Chairman Carter at 7: 00 p.m. The motion was made by Selectman Hanson to approve the minutes of August 20, 1990. Selectman Jacobson seconded the motion. The vote is favorable with the three Selectmen. Selectman Gottlieb did ,not vote since he" was not present at the meeting of 8/20. Selectman Gottlieb made the motion to approve the minutes of August 28, 1990. 'Selectman Hanson seconded the motion. The vote is unanimous. APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: 7: 03 p.-m. Friends of Mashpee Youth: A presentation was made by Mr. Scott Fronius about the Friends of Mashpee Youth. This organization was formed to initiate an activity, oriented program for the youngsters of Mashpee particularly including the 11-16 age group. There are various activities planned with the support of the school system and parent volunteers. They would like to work' with Leisure. Services to develop programs and have fundraisers to add to Leisure Services and to the . growth of the town. Selectman Gottlieb recommends the organization consider incorporatin This would aid in long term organizational functions. It is a good accounting of money. He also suggests the group make commitments in writing. Dean Driscoll is supportive and willing to work with the organiza- tion to build as comprehensive a program as possible. He would like to ,see Leisure. Servic.es and Friends of Mashpee Youth working together. Selectman Hanson welcomes the efforts of the organization and hopesit becomes successful. The Board of Selectmen favor the youth activities and are behind the organization completely. Cape Cod Commission Member: Kevin Harrington has recommended three candidates interested in servicing the Cape Cod Commission for the town. These individuals have the experience, background and ability to represent the town. He also adds, the process has worked well, Charles Jacobs, Manuel Alter and John Halachis will be interviewed by the Board of Selectmen. Mr. Harrington will arrange the time of the interview. Selectman Jacobson is the current representative and wishes .to remain on the board until mid-November. The new candidate may work with. her until her term expires.
