BOARD OF SELECTMEN <br /> MINUTES Page 7 <br /> TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 1990 <br /> i <br /> Telephone Company Approval: <br /> The motion was made by Selectman Gottlieb to approve 90-S3 <br /> from the telephone company for work on Old Barnstable Road. <br /> Selectman Hanson seconded the motion. The Board votes in <br /> favor of 90-53. <br /> DPW re: Vacancies: <br /> The motion was made by Selectman Gottlieb to approve the <br /> recommendations from the Personnel Board and Mr. Virgilio for <br /> Mr. Dwight Peters to be promoted to heavy equipment operator on <br /> September 5th and Leigh Potter to be appointed to skilled laborer <br /> upon the retirement of Lee Thaxton effective on September 10, 1990. <br /> Selectman Jacobson seconded the motion. The Board votes in <br /> favor of the motion. <br /> Appellate Tax Board Cases: <br /> Attorney Dalton has expressed interest to be used as special <br /> counsel on tax board cases states Mr. Harrington. <br /> Attorney Reardon feels there is no high degree of expertise <br /> involved and also expresses his interest in representation to the <br /> town. <br /> .The motion was made by Selectman Carter not to appoint <br /> Mr. 'Dalton. Selectman Jacobson seconded the motion. The Board <br /> votes in favor of the motion and will have Mr. Reardon represent <br /> the town in such cases. <br /> Small Cities Grant: <br /> Kevin Harrington has met with Dean Driscoll concerning the <br /> small cities. grant to. seek state funds to purchase or lease the <br /> Chapel .on Great Neck Road as a potential community center. <br /> The grant applications are competitive, but Mr. Harrington <br /> feels confident. Mid-November is' - funding notification. <br /> Selectman .Gottlieb has made the motion for Kevin Harrington <br /> to submit an application for funding. <br /> Selectman Jacobson seconded the motion. The Board votes <br /> unanimously in favor. <br /> The motion was made by Selectman Gottlieb for the Board to <br /> adjourn and begin Executive Session being no further business <br /> to discuss. <br /> Selectman Hanson seconded the motion. The Board votes in <br /> favor and 'adjourned at' 8 : 52 p.m. <br />
