BOARD OF SELECTMEN MINUTES Page 7 TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 1990 i Telephone Company Approval: The motion was made by Selectman Gottlieb to approve 90-S3 from the telephone company for work on Old Barnstable Road. Selectman Hanson seconded the motion. The Board votes in favor of 90-53. DPW re: Vacancies: The motion was made by Selectman Gottlieb to approve the recommendations from the Personnel Board and Mr. Virgilio for Mr. Dwight Peters to be promoted to heavy equipment operator on September 5th and Leigh Potter to be appointed to skilled laborer upon the retirement of Lee Thaxton effective on September 10, 1990. Selectman Jacobson seconded the motion. The Board votes in favor of the motion. Appellate Tax Board Cases: Attorney Dalton has expressed interest to be used as special counsel on tax board cases states Mr. Harrington. Attorney Reardon feels there is no high degree of expertise involved and also expresses his interest in representation to the town. .The motion was made by Selectman Carter not to appoint Mr. 'Dalton. Selectman Jacobson seconded the motion. The Board votes in favor of the motion and will have Mr. Reardon represent the town in such cases. Small Cities Grant: Kevin Harrington has met with Dean Driscoll concerning the small cities. grant to. seek state funds to purchase or lease the Chapel .on Great Neck Road as a potential community center. The grant applications are competitive, but Mr. Harrington feels confident. Mid-November is' - funding notification. Selectman .Gottlieb has made the motion for Kevin Harrington to submit an application for funding. Selectman Jacobson seconded the motion. The Board votes unanimously in favor. The motion was made by Selectman Gottlieb for the Board to adjourn and begin Executive Session being no further business to discuss. Selectman Hanson seconded the motion. The Board votes in favor and 'adjourned at' 8 : 52 p.m.
