t <br /> BOARD OF SELECTMEN page 4 <br /> MINUTES <br /> MONDAY, OCTOBER 29, 1990 <br /> New Seabury Wastewater Facilit <br /> Mr. Harrington has figured that a hotel with 350 rooms will <br /> basically bring in one million in revenue to the town just on hotel- <br /> motel tax as well as job opportunities for the townspeople of Mashpee. <br /> Selectman Carter agrees the project is important for the sole <br /> purpose of generating revenue to the town. <br /> The motion was made by Selectman Hanson to send letters of <br /> support for this - project. Selectman Carter seconded the motion. <br /> The vote is favorable 2-1 with Selectman Jacobson opposing until <br /> she has met with the Commission on this concern. <br /> The Board of Health is also in favor of the projects and will <br /> also send a letter of support. Chairman Carter thanks the Board of <br /> Health for their concern on this matter. <br /> 8:.13 p.m. Old Police Cruiser: Memo from the Deputy Chief of Police: <br /> Deputy Cooper has reported that under normal circumstances, the <br /> old cruiser is given to other departments. He requester approval to <br /> utilize the old cruiser for parts. <br /> Selectman Hanson is in favor and would like the cruiser disposed <br /> of when the parts have been removed and used by the department. <br /> The motion was made by Selectman Jacobson to approve the request <br /> of the Deputy Chief of Police to utilize the old cruiser and dispose <br /> of it with the Board' s approval. <br /> Selectman Hanson seconded the motion. The Board votes unanimously <br /> to approve the request. <br /> Drug and Alcohol Program: Communication from Sheriff_ DeMello : <br /> Chairman Carter has asked Kevin Harrington to invite the Sheriff <br /> or a representative to address various issues with the Board. <br /> Mr. Harrington will also draft a .letter of support to be included <br /> in the grant proposal. He has also talked with the Police Department <br /> and there is no. problem with this issue. <br /> A ointment of Affordable Housing Committee: <br /> Chairman Carter has suggested Kevin Harrington advertise for <br /> this committee. This is different from the Mashpee Housing Authority. <br /> Selectman Hanson agrees that this will become a standard procedure <br /> with all developments. <br /> Approval of New England Tele hone Petition #96-619: <br /> Selectman Lawrence made the motion to approve petition #96--619. <br /> Selectman Hanson seconded the motion. The Board votes in a unanimous <br /> decision to approve the above petition. <br /> Being no further business to discuss, the Board approved adjourn- <br /> ment at 8 : 21 p.m. to discuss potential, litigation and national security. <br /> The Board will not be reconvening thereafter. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Kathleen M.
