t BOARD OF SELECTMEN page 4 MINUTES MONDAY, OCTOBER 29, 1990 New Seabury Wastewater Facilit Mr. Harrington has figured that a hotel with 350 rooms will basically bring in one million in revenue to the town just on hotel- motel tax as well as job opportunities for the townspeople of Mashpee. Selectman Carter agrees the project is important for the sole purpose of generating revenue to the town. The motion was made by Selectman Hanson to send letters of support for this - project. Selectman Carter seconded the motion. The vote is favorable 2-1 with Selectman Jacobson opposing until she has met with the Commission on this concern. The Board of Health is also in favor of the projects and will also send a letter of support. Chairman Carter thanks the Board of Health for their concern on this matter. 8:.13 p.m. Old Police Cruiser: Memo from the Deputy Chief of Police: Deputy Cooper has reported that under normal circumstances, the old cruiser is given to other departments. He requester approval to utilize the old cruiser for parts. Selectman Hanson is in favor and would like the cruiser disposed of when the parts have been removed and used by the department. The motion was made by Selectman Jacobson to approve the request of the Deputy Chief of Police to utilize the old cruiser and dispose of it with the Board' s approval. Selectman Hanson seconded the motion. The Board votes unanimously to approve the request. Drug and Alcohol Program: Communication from Sheriff_ DeMello : Chairman Carter has asked Kevin Harrington to invite the Sheriff or a representative to address various issues with the Board. Mr. Harrington will also draft a .letter of support to be included in the grant proposal. He has also talked with the Police Department and there is no. problem with this issue. A ointment of Affordable Housing Committee: Chairman Carter has suggested Kevin Harrington advertise for this committee. This is different from the Mashpee Housing Authority. Selectman Hanson agrees that this will become a standard procedure with all developments. Approval of New England Tele hone Petition #96-619: Selectman Lawrence made the motion to approve petition #96--619. Selectman Hanson seconded the motion. The Board votes in a unanimous decision to approve the above petition. Being no further business to discuss, the Board approved adjourn- ment at 8 : 21 p.m. to discuss potential, litigation and national security. The Board will not be reconvening thereafter.
