P <br /> BOARD OF SELECTMEN page 2 <br /> MINUTES <br /> MONDAY, DECEMBER 3, 1990 <br /> 7: 13 p.m. Rod and Gun Club License Request: <br /> Kevin Harrington has reported the ABCC will allow the discretion <br /> of local license authorities to grant liquor license requests. There <br /> is no need to hold a public hearing for each event. <br /> The Board of Selectmen have the authority to grant the liquor <br /> license request of the Rod and Gun Club. Ten dates are listed for <br /> consideration at a cost of $25. 00 per each event. <br /> Selectman Gottlieb made the motion to grant the ten liquor <br /> license dates in 1991 at a' cost of $25. 00 per each event. The dates <br /> are as follows; 1/19, 2/9, 3/9, 4/13, 5/11, 6/8, 7/13, 8/10, 9/1 and <br /> 10/12 of 1991. <br /> Selectman Hanson seconded the motion. The Board votes in a <br /> unanimous decision to approve the ten requested dates. The vote is <br /> 3-0. <br /> 7: 15 P.M. Sunday- Opening for Package Stores: <br /> The ABCC has i55V-ed a limited Sunday opening for the Sunday before <br /> Christmas and the Sunday before New Year' s Day. The stores cannot <br /> open before noon and must close at 11: 30 p.m. <br /> Five businesses have expressed interest to open on the above <br /> two Sunday' s. Selectman Hanson feels it should be agreed upon for <br /> all or none and not limited to a list of applicants. A blanket <br /> license could be issued to grant the opening on the two particular <br /> Sundays. <br /> Kevin Harrington has reported that Sandwich, Falmouth,. Bourne <br /> and Barnstable have not approved this request. Dennis and Harwich <br /> are favorable for the limited Sunday openings. <br /> A Mashpee resident, Marie Scali is opposed totally. She feels <br /> Sunday is a family day and .would like to be a part of the neighboring <br /> towns in opposition. <br /> The motion was made by Selectman Hanson to grant permission for <br /> the two limited Sunday opening days for all liquor stores involved <br /> in the town of Mashpee. <br /> Selectman Gottlieb seconded the motion. Selectman Carter is <br /> opposed. The. vote is favorable, 2-1. <br /> 7: 25 p.m. Falmouth Tuition Deficit, FY 91: <br /> In early November, Chairman Carter, Kevin Harrington and Jim <br /> Vaccaro discussed the town' s obligation relative to the students <br /> who indicated they were going to Cape Cod Tech and transferred to <br /> Falmouth High School. The estimation was for ten students at a cost <br /> of $50, 000 to the town. The exact deficit will not be known until <br /> January of 1991, but' is estimated at twenty or more students to be <br /> a cost of $100, 000 or more to the town. <br />
