TOWN OF MASHPEE
DESIGN REVIEW COMMITTEE MEETING
. October 14, 1998
The Design Review Committee met at 6 :30 p.m. on Wednesday,
October 14, 1998 at the Lower Level of Mashpee Town Hall .
Committee Members Present : Ed Govoni, Chairman; Thomas F.
O'Hara; Mary LeBlanc; Bob Nelson, Representative from the ZBA.
Absent : Patrick Coffey, Bill Hauck
Correction: Minutes of July 22, 1998 : 5th paragraph, first line
should read Don Megathlin.
1. Clark. Balboa . Gildea - Great Neck Road. Sign Agvlication
It was recommended at a previous review meeting that only :one
sign be used. Ms. Fain Gildea proposed using one sign rather
than two signs . As there are occupants on both floors, a
larger sign than 20 sq. ft . is desirable. Ms . Gildea proposed
a 40 sq. ft . sign: 6.25 ft . x 6 .25 ft . Members dial not have a
problem with that size and suggested that Mr. Hauck be
consulted before the next meeting. Ms. Gildea agreed to check
with Mr. Hauck.
2 . BriCkyard Marketplace Project - La d cape Review
Mr. Michael H. Grotzke presented a different plan from the one
proposed at the last meeting. There are now only two
entrances and exits rather than four as originally planned.
Discussion ensued regarding the height, style, and material of
the fence. It was agreed the fence should be 7 ft . high
constructed of solid wood with the good side facing out . A
shadow-box privacy fence of natural cedar or Cape Cod gray was
suggested. The board requested Mr. Grotzke to inform them of
the type of fence he has selected prior to installing it .
Trees will be planted along the side of the building and in
front . Two ornamental trees, such as honey locust, pear or
dogwood will be planted at either end of the median strip.
